Zambia’s record 13-time league champions, Nkana FC, lost 1-0 to Zanaco at home on Sunday, leaving them winless in the 2025-26 season.
The defeat to 10-man Zanaco in a Week 5 fixture is Nkana’s third defeat this season. Zanaco now tops the table on 11 points.
And head coach Mwenya Chipepo said after the match that the players and technical bench are frustrated by the outcome.
“We are not happy as a technical bench; even the players are not happy as well. It’s very disappointing, especially that we were playing at home,” Chipepo said after the match.
Zanaco was reduced to 10 men, but Nkana failed to take advantage, squandering several opportunities in front of the goal.
Mwenya Mwape, received a second yellow card and sent off in the 62nd minute.
“Look at the chances we created, but we couldn’t score. I don’t know what was happening with our strikers,” the coach added.
Nkana is second from the bottom on the table with just two points from five games.
Chipepo called for patience from the fans and assured them that the coaching staff will address the team’s shortcomings.
“We just have to be patient. We have seen where we are wrong as coaches, and we are going to work on the mistakes we are making,” he said.
