At Lusaka’s REIZ Arena Stadium, Napsa Stars Football Club defeated Mines United 1-0 on Sunday to record their first win of the 2025–26 MTN Super League season.

Lawrence Lubinda, assistant coach of the NAPSA Stars, was thrilled with the result.

“It’s a game that we just had to win. We were looking forward to playing this game; it was a must-win game,” Lubinda said in his post-match interview.

Rally Bwalya’s 70th-minute strike proved decisive as the Pensioners collected maximum points for the first time this season.

Lubinda revealed that the team executed their plan well, stressing the importance of maintaining momentum.

“The message to the player is consistency. We will need more consistency because points are needed in the first round. Next game we need to prepare very well for Green Buffaloes,” he added.

The victory lifted Napsa Stars—who had been flirting with the relegation zone—into 12th position on the table with five points from as many games.

Despite the win, Lubinda pointed out the need for sharper finishing up front.

“We are creating a lot of chances, but execution is a problem in our team. Because we need our strikers to be scoring,” he said.
