Nkana Football Club head coach Mwenya Chipepo has quickly set his sights on Wednesday’s away fixture against Zanaco Football Club set for Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.
Kalampa has won four consecutive games and is now the most in-form team in the MTN Super League after Power Dynamos’ four-match winning streak was ended on Saturday by a 2-0 loss to Zesco United.
Chipepo defeated his former club Forest Rangers on Sunday afternoon to move into sixth place on the log with 19 points from 12 games.
Their goal difference has increased to 7+, with 15 goals scored and 8 goals allowed.
In a post-match interview, Chipepo, who has gone unbeaten since taking over Nkana, said he expected a tough match against Rangers but was pleased that his side scored enough goals to win.
“I’m very happy to pick three points, very important. Earlier on, I told someone that it was not going to be easy,” he said. “I coached both teams; I was building Forest Rangers; you saw how they played today. I was expecting a tough game in terms of physical and endurance, but all we needed to do was use tactical experience.”
“We can’t fail to qualify for ABSA” – Chipepo
Chipepo has also revealed that he is targeting ABSA Cup qualification by the middle of the season.
“When I came here, I was told to make sure we survive relegation, but I saw something coming up in terms of playing ABSA. So I am happy because I know we are going to play ABSA. There are many games to play; in five games we can’t fail to qualify for ABSA, then the rest will follow,” Chipepo said.
On their next opponents, Zanaco, who are currently in the relegation zone, Chipepo said the target is to collect three points on Wednesday.
“They are prepared; they are not going out of camp. Zanaco has been struggling of late, and I know it’s going to be a very tough game, but still we need three points; I know where we want to be,” he concluded.
