Following a loss to demoted side Trident Football Club yesterday, former U20 Zambia National team coach Bestone Chambeshi is under pressure to make sure Konkola Blades are not dropped from the Zambian Super League.
Coach Wedson Nyirenda of Zanaco Football Club complimented Chambeshi for his strategies, which helped Blades achieve outstanding success during part of the 2024–25 Super League season.
Billy Ntumba gave visiting team Trident the lead in the 72nd minute of a Week 31 home match, quieting the home crowd and putting more pressure on Chambeshi, who left the 13-time Zambian Champions, Nkana at the beginning of the season due to poor results.
But with three games remaining in the season, his team Konkola Bades has fallen to 15th place in the log.
In order to maintain their chances of surviving, Konkola Blades now have a win-at-all costs away match against Mufulira Wanderers, who defeated Nkwazi 1-0.
Both teams will find their next game to be very important because a win would greatly increase their chances of surviving.
In other fixtures, in Solwezi, Kansanshi Dynamos secured a narrow 1-0 win over Mutondo Stars. The Mabanga Boys still in the relegation zone, know that another win in their final two matches could help them escape relegation.
