Zesco United Takes Control Of Super League After 2-0 Victory Over Power Dynamos

Power Dynamos, drop to fourth, level on points with Green Buffaloes and Kabwe Warriors but trailing on goal difference.

Zesco United, the nine-time Zambian champions, defeated Power Dynamos 2-0 at home to regain control of the Zambian Premier League under temporary coach Emmanuel Siwale.

Zesco has advanced to 25 points after winning seven of their last twelve games, giving them a three-point lead at the top.

Power Dynamos led the table heading into the Week 12 encounter, but their five-game winning streak came to an end with the loss at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

With a 1-2 loss to Green Buffaloes at REIZ Arena in the capital city of Lusaka, Napsa Stars granted Buffaloes full points, moving them up to second place in the standings with 22 points.

Kabwe Warriors, who registered a 1-nil away victory over strugglers, Lumwana Radiants, also have 22 points, the same as Buffaloes but have a superior goal difference.

The Oswald Mutapa-drilled side, Power Dynamos, dropped to fourth and level on points with Green Buffaloes and Kabwe Warriors but trailed in goal difference.

Zanaco FC began life with a 0-0 tie away at Nkwazi’s Edwin Imboela Stadium without coach Wedson Nyrienda, who left after a poor showing.

Dabid Chilufya, who joined the team as a consultant assistant coach in October, was in charge of the Bankers.

In his first league game as coach of Nchanga Rangers, George Lwandamina led his team to a 1-0 victory over Red Arrows, the reigning champions, at Nchanga Stadium.
