Forest Rangers Football Club captain Cedric Djeugoue says the team is still in contention to qualify for the 2024 ABSA Cup.
The defending champions are currently in 11th position with 15 points, six points off the top six. The Ndola side beat FC MUZA earlier this year to be crowned champions of the 2023 ABSA Cup for the first time.
With four matches before the participating teams are determined, Djeugoue says Fole Malembe can still qualify for the competition.
“I still believe that we can still manage, even if the possibility is less, if some team [Nkwazi] manages to get four wins in a row. Why not us?” Djeugoue said.
“We are going to fight”
The Cameroonian international has vowed that his team will fight to get into the top six by Week 17.
“It is good that we are going to play the bigger teams who are on top. We are going to fight for that….. And to qualify, we need at least two wins and a draw,” he stated.
Forest Rangers will this weekend take on Power Dynamos in a Week 14 fixture at Dola Stadium.
Djeugoue is confident the Ndola side will beat the Super League defending champions.
“It will be a very interesting game. First, it is the former team of our coach, and Power Dynamos are defending champions of the Super League. It is also a repeat of the Charity Shield.
“I just hope we will do the same things we did [Charity Shield]….. So that we beat them in front of our fans,” he said.
