Zesco United defender Benedict Chepeshi has revealed the team’s game plan for today’s Zambian Super League clash against Nkana Football Club.
Zesco have beaten Kalampa 15 times and losing only seven times from the previous 29 league meetings with seven draws between the two teams since 2008.
The two sides will meet at Nkana Stadium in search of maximum points in the 2024–2025 season.
Kalampa has so far drawn two matches, while Zesco United are playing their first game of the season after their unceremoniously exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.
Zega Mambo will begin the season under the tutelage of interim coach Emmanuel Siwale, following the firing of George Lwandamina and assistant coach Tenant Chilumba.
Speaking ahead of today’s match, Chepeshi, who is on a 2-year loan with the Ndola side, said the team is targeting full maximum points against the 13-time Zambian champions.
He, however, anticipates a tough match due to Nkana’s calibre.
“It’s not a team we can underrate. We are working well; the boys are ready for the match,” Chepeshi said. “The only thing that is important is to go with our game plan and execute it. Create the chances and score; we just have to win.”
“To the fans, we appreciate your support. We will make sure we make you happy. The league is a whole season; we will take it a game at a time,” he stated. The match will kick off at 15:00.
Nkana assistant coach Dennis Makinka said his boys were ready for today’s showdown against Zesco United.
“We have prepared well, and we have worked in the areas that we thought we were lacking. So, we expect a good match against Zesco,” Makinka said.
