Mufulira Wanderers head coach Lameck Banda says his side can still redeem itself despite suffering a painful defeat to Kabwe Warriors.

Wanderers fell to a 2-0 loss against Kabwe Warriors in their Week 27 fixture played at Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium on Wednesday.

The defeat saw the Mufulira-based side drop to sixth place on the log with 42 points from 27 matches, having now managed just one point in their last two outings.

Wanderers created numerous chances in the match but failed to convert them and were ultimately punished by the home side.

Reacting to the result, Banda said, “A bad result away is something that we could have done better. We had those chances that we created, and when we failed to convert, they scored. So we just need to learn how to convert our chances more, especially when it’s 0-0. We had an edge where we could have buried those chances, but we couldn’t and ended up conceding two goals.”

“But we just need to rise up to the occasion; yes, a defeat does not mean we are bad, but we can rise up in the next game and be able to do well. We had a bad day, but we can still redeem ourselves over the weekend. We just need to refocus; it’s not the end of the world we have lost, but we can do better over the weekend,” noted Banda.

Meanwhile, Mufulira Wanderers will shift attention to their next match, where they will host Zanaco on Sunday.
