According to Saudi Pro League rules, only eight foreign players can be registered by any club, and Al Nassr had to sacrifice the 30-year-old Cameroonian striker in order to pave way for Ronaldo.

Aboubakar is now widely expected to be on the move during the ongoing January transfer window, with Manchester United already reportedly keen on signing him.

The former FC Porto and Besiktas striker spent the last 18 months with Al-Nassr and has scored 13 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions, including four strikes in 12 games so far this season.

According to Saudi Arabian news outlet OKAZ, United and Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce have both shown interest in the Indomitable Lions striker who starred at the previous World Cup with two goals and one assist, including the game-winning goal against Brazil.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s unveiling at Al-Nassr

Al-Nassr’s new signing, Ronaldo, could not make his debut due to the two-match suspension he received during his time at his former club, Manchester United.

He is now expected to make his debut on January 22, 2023, when Al Nassr plays against Al Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro-League.
