Zesco Ndola Girls reaffirmed their title ambitions in the Eden University Women’s Super League with a commanding 7–0 victory over YASA Queens at home, a result that propelled them to the top of the table with 27 points—one ahead of second-placed Green Buffaloes, who play on Sunday.
Despite the emphatic scoreline, head coach William Zulu expressed mixed emotions after the match, praising his players for their overall performance but lamenting the number of missed chances, particularly in the first half.
“It is a sweet victory, though it was tough in the first half. They came at us early, and we struggled a bit. We scored in the first half, but after talking to the girls during the break, they came to the party in the second half,” said Zulu.
The coach singled out forward Avell Chitundu for missing several opportunities in front of goal but was quick to defend his player, saying,
“That’s football. You score some and you miss some. It’s normal for a player to be in that position.”

With back-to-back high-scoring wins—5–0 last week and 7–0 this weekend—Zulu credited his team’s training intensity and attacking discipline for their recent success.
“We still have a lot of games” – Zulu.
“It shows that the strikers are doing well in training. What they practice during the week is what they are now producing on the pitch,” he added.
Looking ahead, the coach emphasized the importance of consistency as Zesco Ndola Girls aim to defend their crown.
“We still have a lot of games ahead. We don’t want to drop points. Our aim is to defend the title, but we know it won’t come easily. We just have to keep working hard.”
The victory marks Zesco Ndola’s Week 11 triumph, maintaining their strong hold on the title race with a game in hand.
