Zambia’s under-17 Girls will face Tanzania in a two-legged match in March for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup second round of qualifiers.
Tanzania advanced to the second round with a walkover win over Eswatini.
If the Copper Princesses defeat Tanzania, they will advance to the third round, where they will face either Benin or the winner of the DR Congo-Niger match for a spot in the tournament.
The 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 8.
Starting this year, the tournament will be held annually rather than every two years, and the number of competing countries will increase from 16 to 24.
Meanwhile, Zambia’s coach, Carol Kanyemba, has named a provisional squad of 37 players, excluding the winning players from the 2024 Cosafa U-17 Girls Championship in November.
According to a statement from the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), the selected players will undergo a one-week assessment camp to compete for spots in the final squad, which will include players from the Cosafa winning team.
