The allegations also suggest that the players are being sexually abused by officials at the Football Association of Zambia(FAZ), a thing which has now prompted FAZ to issue a statement announcing they have opened an inquiry into the matter.

The Association further says, it will collaborate with the Zambia Police to help with investigations in the matter despite having not received any official complaint from anyone.

“Although as FAZ we have no record of official complaints from anyone on the allegations, we consider these allegations very serious and have opened an inquiry into the matter,

“We shall collaborate with the Zambia Police Service and other relevant stakeholders in dealing with this matter.” FAZ secretary general Adrian Kashala was qouted.

FAZ has also advised those with information on the matter to take it to law enforcement agencies or Football House to help with the investigations.

“We have since written to the Zambia Police to invite any one with evidence to help with investigations. The nation shall be notified of the outcome of the inquiries once concluded. Until then, we shall provide no further comment on this matter,” added Kashala.

The Zambia Women’s National team has been one of the most successful African women’s football teams this year having reached the semifinals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history at the 2022 edition held in Morocco, which earned them an automatic qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Copper Queens also recently won the 2022 COSAFA Women’s Championship for the first time ever after defeating South Africa 1-0 in extra time through a Barbara Banda headed goal.

The team which is now preparing for FIFA World Cup set to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand from the July 20th to August 20th, 2023, will play a friendly match against the Netherlands on the 6 October 2022 in what will be a repeat of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games group stage match which saw the Copper Queens get thumped 10-3 by the Dutch.
