Zesco Ndola Girls Football Club goalkeeper Annie Namonje has reaffirmed that the team is working tirelessly to achieve their set target for the season—winning the league.

The team has enjoyed impressive form this season, drawing only one match and winning 18 matches as of Week 19 of the Eden University Women’s Super League.

In an interview with the club’s media, Namonje states that communication and coordination will be key in the team’s objectives of winning their maiden Super League title.

“The league has been okay; each and every one is pushing, and we are working hard to achieve one goal, which is to win the league,” Namonje said. “The defense has been working okay because where there’s communication, there’s good football.”

“We have the second top scorer [in the league], who is Penelope Mulubwa, so I think the striking force has been working well. We have won 18 games and drawn one.”

The goalkeeper has also acknowledged the coach’s effect on the team’s performance so far this season.

“I Have A Lot To Learn” – Namonje.

“They [coaches] have been helpful since preseason; they encourage us to compete among ourselves because there’s no position for one person only,” she revealed.

Despite conceding seven goals, Namonje has dismissed claims that she is the league’s best goalkeeper and said that she still has a lot to learn.

“My experience has been quite okay, but as always, I just have to work hard, as we are three goalkeepers. Each one is pushing to start Saturday’s match,” she said.

“That is actually motivation whereby whenever we are playing, I just have to up my game because so far people are claiming I’m the best goalkeeper, but no, I still have a long way to go.”

Zesco Ndola Girls will host Zanaco Ladies at Trade Fair Grounds in a Week 20 Eden University Women’s Super League match.
