With 11 goals in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), Kansas FC leads the golden boot chase thanks to a brace from Temwa Chawinga versus Houston Dash on Friday Night.
Temwa scored twice, in the 77th and 79th minutes, to push Kansas’ NWSL undefeated streak to 17 games.
She has scored 11 goals with 6 assists in 15 matches: ahead of Zambia’s striker Barbara Banda with 10 goals and 5 assists.
This is her third brace, which she hopes will help her team fight for trophies during the current NWSL season.
Speaking to BolaNews on Saturday, Temwa said she thanked God for giving her energy and the opportunity to score goals.
“I just thank God that I am scoring goals, this is enough for me. If God wants me to win the golden boot, then it will happen, otherwise I am not under any pressure,” she said.
Temwa responded that her plan is not to compete with Barbara Banda for the golden boot award, during this season.

“I am not in a competition against Banda. Banda is a top player, she has what it takes to impress, but it is not my plan to fight against her. I am just playing my game and helping my team to win,” she said.
