Trident Queens FC head coach Nicholas Zulu says this season’s ZPL National Women’s Super League has proven highly competitive and unpredictable, with no clear favorites at the top.

Zulu was speaking after his side settled for a 0–0 draw away to relegation-threatened ZISD FC, a result that leaves Trident Queens ninth on the table with 22 points from 19 matches.

Describing the encounter as tactical, Zulu admitted his team went into the match aiming for maximum points but was frustrated by a resilient opponent.

“We were playing a team that has been doing well in the second round and hasn’t lost recently. We came here to win, but unfortunately we have drawn,” Zulu said.

He noted that Trident Queens played with confidence, inspired by their 3–1 home victory over ZISD earlier in the season, but rued missed chances in the first half.

“We had about three clear chances, but our strikers were not quick enough to finish,” he added.

On the wider league picture, Zulu dismissed the idea of predictable dominance, pointing to Green Buffaloes Women FC’s surprise 2–1 defeat to Indeni Roses as evidence of the growing competitiveness.

“We need to win” – Zulu.

“The games are tough this year. So right now we don’t know who is going to win the league,” he said.

Looking ahead, Zulu says Trident Queens will target a vital home victory against Green Eagles as they aim to climb up the standings.

“We need to win that game so that we can push up on the table,” he said.

Green Buffaloes lead the table with 47 points, followed by Zesco Ndola Girls, who have played 18 games, compared to 19 for the log leaders. In third place, Zanaco Ladies have 43 points, Red Arrows closing the top four with 41 points.
