Red Arrows Women’s Football Club beat Zanaco Ladies 2-0 in the Women’s Super League on Sunday to leapfrog defending champions Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club (GBWFC) at the summit of the table.

Goals from Mary Mulenga and Aliness Kasoma were enough to seal the three points that took the Airwomen to the top of the table.

GBWFC were the champions of the inaugural edition of the Women’s League which was established in 2021.

They went on to represent Zambia in the COSAFA Club Champions League, which they won. This also ensured their qualification for their first-ever CAF Champions League appearance.

Meanwhile, Red Arrows ended GBWFC’s 44-game unbeaten run in Zambia and look set to dethrone them as champions.

The Airwomen will wait for Thursday’s match between GBWFC and Elite Ladies F.C. to see how long they will last at the summit.

A victory for GBWFC will be enough to see them reclaim their top position.
