Orlando Pride drags FAZ to FIFA over ‘mishandling’ of injured Grace Chanda at the Olympics

Chanda will be out for the rest of the season after suffering an injury at the Olympics, and Orlando feels FAZ could have handled her better.

Orlando Pride Vice President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Haley Carter has filed a formal grievance against the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) with FIFA on behalf of Grace Chanda for “failure to provide a reasonable standard of care for player health and welfare.”

BolaNews also understands that Orlando Pride feels FAZ failed to provide Chanda with an adequate performance environment.

Chanda suffered a ruptured quadriceps tendon in her right leg while competing for Zambia at the Paris 2024 Olympics, putting her on the season-ending injury list.

The 26-year-old played only 34 minutes in Zambia’s Olympic opener against the United States, a 3-0 loss.

Two weeks ago, the club announced that Chanda would have to wait until 2025 to make her debut for them.

Carter’s complaint was also made public during Saturday’s American broadcast of the Houston Dash game.

FAZ Secretary General Reuben Kamanga told BolaNews on Monday that they had not yet been informed of the complaint.
