The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) hosted its inaugural Women’s Football Awards Gala in Lusaka on Saturday night to celebrate the best performers of the 2024/25 Eden University Women’s League season.

The evening was headlined by ZESCO Ndola Girls’ star striker Penelope Mulubwa, who scooped the prestigious Player of the Season award after a record-breaking campaign that saw her net 35 goals to also claim the Golden Boot. Mulubwa’s lethal form was central to ZESCO’s impressive run, cementing her as one of the most feared forwards in the country.

Her club’s success was further underlined by Annie Namonje, who walked away with the Golden Glove award after a season filled with heroic saves and numerous clean sheets. William Zulu, head coach of ZESCO Ndola Girls, was also named Coach of the Year, adding another feather to the club’s decorated campaign.

In the Fans’ Player of the Season category, Green Buffaloes midfielder Evarine Susan Katongo earned the most public votes for her electrifying performances and consistent leadership throughout the season.
