Malawi Women’s National Football team, the Scorchers, coach Lovemore Fazili says he will not issue any excuses if he fails to qualify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Malawi will play against Angola away on Thursday, October 23, before hosting them at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on October 28.
The winner of the two-legged tie will qualify for the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco, a milestone that would mark the Scorcher’s first-ever qualification.
Speaking to Bola News, Fazili said he has what it takes to make history with the Scorchers and asked Malawians to believe them as they start camping.
The team has played 8 friendly matches ahead of this encounter, which includes playing Zambia.
“We Are Ready For Angola” – Fazili.
“I am aware that Angola are up for the task; they want to qualify, but we have a good number of professional players, and all have confirmed that they are available for the match. We are ready; we have been looking for these games” said Fazili.
“FAM has supported us well, but this is not putting me under pressure. Wait for our first game in Angola; you will be happy, and Malawians will be happy, that I can assure you. I should appreciate the FA; they have done their part, from preparations to this far when they have invited all players I considered, and there are no excuses from me,” he added.
Fazili said he has worked on his goalkeeping, which has been a problem for the past games, and said Malawians will see the difference.

“We have worked on the goalkeeping; we will pick the best out of four goalkeepers we have called,” he said while assuring that all professional players have confirmed their availability.
Among the eight professionals included are Tabitha Chawinga (Olympique Lyonnais Féminin), Temwa Chawinga (Kansas City Current), Rose Kadzere (Montpellier), Vanessa Chikupira (FC BIIK-Kazygurt), Faith Chimzimu (BK Hacken), Tendai Sani (ZISD), and Chimwemwe Madise (TP Mazembe).
