Fridah Mukoma has become the fifth Zambian player to be signed by a club in the American Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), joining Orlando Pride’s trio of Barbra Banda, Grace Chanda, and Prisca Chilufya, as well as Bay FC’s Racheal Kundananji.

The 18-year-old forward has signed a four-year contract with Kansas City Current, extending through 2028, following a transfer from ZESCO Ndola Girls that included an undisclosed transfer fee.

“The Current have also signed Zambian forward Fridah Mukoma through 2028 via a transfer with ZESCO Ndola Girls that included an undisclosed transfer fee. Mukoma has been subsequently loaned to Beijing Jingtan FC through the 2025 season,” the club said in a statement.

Mukoma has been loaned to Beijing Jingtan FC for the duration of the 2025 season. She enjoyed a breakout year in 2024, starting at the club level with ZESCO Ndola Girls in the Zambian Women’s Super League. There, she scored five goals and provided 13 assists in 30 appearances, earning herself the Young Player of the Year award. Her impressive performances quickly translated to the national team, where she began to make an impact.

Mukoma was a standout at the COSAFA Women’s Championship, where she shared the Golden Boot with teammate Ochumba Lubandji after scoring four goals each.

In China where she is on loan, Mukoma made headlines with a brace on her debut for Beijing Oriental, scoring twice in their 3-0 win in the Chinese women’s league.
