The Jamaican women’s national team will compete at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand starting in July 2023 for the second time ever.
The Jamaican women’s world cup participants, however, are irate because the Jamaican football association is struggling to support them in the run-up to the tournament.
According to an open letter posted on social media on Thursday, the players lamented and slammed the federations over the lack of support ahead of the World Cup.
The players expressed their most dissatisfaction with the Jamaica Football Federation in an open letter shared on social media.
“At a time where we should be focused solely on preparing to compete on the world’s largest stage, we are unfortunately compelled to express our utmost disappointment with the Jamaica Football Federation,” the letter said.
“We have sat down with the federation to address concerns resulting from transportation, accommodations, training conditions, communication, nutrition and accessibility to proper resources.” reads part of the letter.
The Jamaican FA Admits Financial Crisis
The Jamaica Football Association, however, earlier this year told the Reuters news agency that it was having problems gathering money to sponsor the women’s national team.
This month, FIFA declared that each participant in the world cup will receive a $30,000 guarantee. The Reggae Girls will begin their FIFA world cup campaign on 23rd July against tournament favorites France.

The new pay structure FIFA for the upcoming Women’s world cup is guaranteeing every player at the tournament in Australia and New Zealand at least $30,000, and $270,000 for each of the 23 players on the World Cup-winning team.
Each of the 32 countries that qualified for the World Cup will get at least $1.56 million, bumping the total prize pool to $152 million — more than three times what it was four years ago.
