Zambia U-17 National Women’s Team Captain Mercy Chipasula says the team is working to correct the mistakes they made at the 2024 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
During that tournament, the Copper Princesses exited in the group stage.
The Copper Princesses are presently training in Morocco for the 14-day pre-tournament camp in preparation for the U17 World Cup.
The Carol Kanyemba-drilled side will begin their campaign on 19th October 2025, as they will face Paraguay before meeting Japan three days later. Their final match will be against New Zealand.
However, speaking to FAZ media, Chipasula said the team is ready to redeem themselves.
“Everyone is pushing. We were working on shooting on goal, the mistakes that we were making at the last World Cup, and also working on the strikers’ movement with the ball. The team spirit is high, and we are ready to face Paraguay,” she said.
“Me and my friends, we are very much ready; even right now we are ready to play. To the fans, we won’t disappoint you. Don’t give up; we are going to fight for our country. Continue supporting us; we will win our first game,” she added.
The two teams in each group will qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.
The Copper Princesses will be looking forward to impressing this time around and avoiding early elimination from the World Cup.
