Zambia’s Green Buffaloes drawn in Group A for CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers

Buffaloes have learned their opponents for the 2024 CAF Champions League qualifiers set to kick off in Malawi next month.

Zambian Women’s Super League champions, the Green Buffaloes, have been drawn in Group A for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League and COSAFA qualifiers, which will be held in Malawi from August 15-24.

Buffaloes have been placed alongside South African side University of Western Cape (UWC), Zimbabwean Herentals Queens, and Namibian FC Ongos.

Gaborone United of Botswana, União Desportiva de Lichinga from Mozambique, and Malawi’s Ascent Soccer Academy, Young Buffaloes from Eswatini make up Group B.

The Zambian champions will be looking to win their second Cosafa title and qualify for the Caf Champions League for the second time, having made their debut in 2022.

With title holders Mamelodi Sundowns having already qualified for the final phase of the eight-team competition, where they will hope to secure a record third continental title, Southern African region will have two representatives.

The winner of the Cosafa qualifying tournament in Malawi will advance to the continental finals later this year.
