Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club is without a doubt the pinnacle of women’s football in Zambia. They have made a name for themselves as a formidable force in the nation.

Last season, the Zambia Army-sponsored team was only able to finish in second place. Considering their standards, the campaign’s conclusion was underwhelming, and it appears that a new sheriff has taken over.

The Buffaloes certainly be keen to retain their spot next season, but the Zesco Ndola Girls were absolutely amazing.

Since then, the Buffaloes have come together to begin their preseason workouts at Green Square. They have had the pleasure of having a range of players on show, including some who were on loan, according to credible sources.

With 23 goals, Natasha Nanyangwe is the second-highest scorer for the Buffaloes during the previous season.

She recalls that the team displayed beautiful football despite not been able to defend the title.

”We need to work hard as a team to secure our position at the top, we have created a name for ourselves, we have been labelled as winners, but competition is very high now.”

“Playing For The National Team Is A Privilege“- Nanyangwe.

She added ”we are not used to not being able to win the title but ”Lesa Wa Bonse” now that another team won, we have to identify where we went wrong and work even harder to improve.”

Nanyangwe is a part of Copper Queens final 24-member squad for the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco next month.

”Playing for the national team is an honour and rare privilege, it means the world to me because not everyone gets this opportunity.”

Following her recovery from a potentially career-ending leg fracture sustained during the 2023 Cosafa Women’s Championship, Nanyangwe appears to be a player reborn. She has subsequently restored herself as a maestro at Green Buffaloes in spite of the setback. She will now want to replicate her performance with the national squad at the club level.
