Copper Queens striker Kabange Mupopo says the team worked so hard to secure Zambia’s back-to-back qualification to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Zambia joins 12 other teams at the Paris 2024 Olympics and will be placed in Group B alongside USA, Germany and Australia.

Skipper Barbara Banda scored a brace to overturn a 2-1 defeat in the first Leg to beat Morocco 2-0 in reverse fixture in Rabat on Wednesday.

Reflecting on historical qualification to the Womens Olympics, Mupopo, who has earned herself promotion in the Zambian Army said the team put up an impressive performance in the two tough matches.

“We had a lot of pressure, but when we played at home, we didn’t play our best game, but when we came here, we just groomed ourselves together and made sure we do everything together and do our level best,” she said.

“When we want to expect something good we have to train very hard, be together all the time, it’s about team Spirit, training together because it’s a tournament,” Mupopo said.

Kabange last appeared at the Olympics as a 400m runner in Brazil in 2016 and is looking forward to making her appearance as a football player. The 2024 Paris Olympic games will run from 24th July to 10th August 2024.
