Morocco jets in ahead of make-or-break clash with Copper Queens

Zambia, which made its Olympic debut in 2021 (the Tokyo 2020 Olympics), hopes to set a record by qualifying for two consecutive Olympics.

Prior to Friday’s match with the Copper Queens, Morocco, Zambia’s opponents in the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifier, have arrived in Ndola.

Morocco’s women’s national team head coach, Jorge Vilda, has summoned 15 foreign-based players for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games qualification match against Zambia.

According to the Roya Moroccan Football Federation, the coach has called up 28 players for the crucial match.

Leading the foreign contingent is captain Ghizlane Chebbak, who plays for Levante Las Planas in Spain. Tottenham forward Rosella Ayane who recently surpassed 100 club appearances for the English side is also in the team.

In the opening leg of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifications, the Copper Queens, hoping to qualify for the Olympics twice, take face Morocco tomorrow evening at 19:00 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

The victor of the two legs will advance to the Olympics, and the final leg takes place in Rabat on April 9.

Zambia, which made its Olympic debut in 2021 (the Tokyo 2020 Olympics), hopes to set a record by qualifying for two consecutive Olympics.

In the meantime, the Zambia Women’s National Team have intensified preparation for their first-leg match against Morocco at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

All of the international players called up by the technical bench led by Bruce Mwape participated in the demanding practice alongside local players in an effort to secure a significant victory before the team’s away second leg next week.
