After BIIK Kazygurt’s perfect run through the tournament, three Copper Queens—Martha Tembo, Lushomo Mweemba, and Ireen Lungu—have won the 2024 Kazakhstani Women’s Cup.

The 16-time champions of Kazakhstan won the Women’s Cup, setting a record with four victories in a row in a five-team championship.

Throughout the tournament, Kazygurt scored 17 goals and conceded two. Ireen Lungu scored two of those goals and provided two assists to help her side seal the golden medal.

She was on target in the 27th minute when her side walloped Ordabasy 5-0 in the fifth-round match of the tournament.

Lungu, far right.

In another match, she scored once more in the 87th minute when Kazygurt easily defeated Tomiris 1-4 with a spectacular header. She took to social media to express her delight in achieving this milestone.

“A goal, 2 assists, champions, fantastic performance by the team to add another trophy to the cabinet,” she wrote on her official Facebook page.

They opened the campaign with a 5-0 win over Okzhetpes before beating Aqtobe 3-1 in their second of the four fixtures played on a round-robin basis. BIIK then beat Tomiris-Turan 4-1 with Ireen Lungu on the scoresheet and the Copper Queens midfielder was on the scorer’s list in the 5-0 win over Ordabasy.

“The most titled women’s football club in the country, “BIIK-Shymkent,” justified its status as favourites and won in all rounds. Aktobe took second place and bronze medals were awarded to Ordabasy football players,” the Kazakhstani Federation stated on their website.
