The Copper Queens’ second international friendly in Europe ahead of the Women’s World Cup against Switzerland ended in a 3-3 draw on Friday of last week.

Despite failing to hold on to a 1-3 lead, Copper Queens midfielder Evarine-Susan Katongo noted that the team coordinated extremely well.

From the goalkeeper to the strikers, “we coordinated so well, and we utilized the chances that we had. It was an impressive performance by the team,” she said.

“We knew this was not going to be an easy game because we were playing an experienced team, but the results are fine in our opinion,” she added.

Meanwhile, Copper Queens head coach, Bruce Mwape has welcomed the addition of Chipolopolo boys fitness trainer, Jamie Lawrence on the technical bench.

“In fact, it has been long overdue, he could have come a long time ago, and by now we couldn’t be talking about the fitness levels of our players, and I am sure he will be able to work on the fitness levels of our players,” he said.

“That’s what we want, more expertise so that by the time we are going to the world Cup everything will be in place,” he said.

The Copper Queens will play their last preparatory match against Germany on 7th July ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup that gets underway on the 20th of July and end on 20th August. They are in Group C alongside Spain, Cost Rica, and Japan.
