Chanda Plotting An End To Zesco Ndola Girls’ Unbeaten Run

Indeni Roses will be seeking to finish in second position behind Champions elect-Zesco Ndola Girls.

Indeni Roses head coach Rex Chanda has set his sights on ending Zesco United’s unbeaten run when the two teams clash in their upcoming Eden University Women’s Super League fixture.

The Roses claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Nkwazi Queens in a Week 31 encounter at Edwin Imboela Stadium on Saturday, thanks to a 79th-minute strike by Edith Phiri.

The away victory helped Indeni Roses retain their second position on the log, moving to 70 points — three ahead of third-placed Red Arrows Women’s Team — with just one match remaining.

The Ndola-based side is now on a four-match winning streak and remains determined to finish the season behind champions-elect Zesco Ndola Girls.

Speaking to the club’s media, Chanda commended his players for their determination and resilience against a stubborn Nkwazi side.

“Playing games with teams that are below in the league is tricky and very difficult. As you could see, they came to frustrate us, making sure that maybe a point could have been better for them. But we did well to make changes in the second half, they made an impact, and we scored a goal,” Chanda said.

Chanda believes the win has boosted his squad’s confidence heading into their decisive Week 32 fixture against Zesco Ndola Girls.

“It’s good we won, especially after declaring that we want to finish second. We’ve said we should not drop points, and this victory has taken us into the Zesco game with so much confidence and power to make sure we stop Zesco’s unbeaten run,” he added.

Indeni Roses will now look to seal second place and potentially derail Zesco’s perfect season when the two Ndola sides face off in what promises to be a thrilling finale.
