French superstar, Kylian Mbappe’s UEFA Champions League campaign with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ended on Tuesday night after losing 0-1 to Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes, exiting the competition in the semifinals with a 2-0 aggregate defeat.

Mbappe had hoped to bid his dream farewell next month in the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium, but that will not happen.

The 2018 World Cup winner will leave PSG after seven years when his contract expires at the end of the season. Spanish La Liga champions Real Madrid are most likely his next destination, according to multiple reports.

Reacting after the defeat, Mbappe, who had one of his shots hit the woodwork in the second half, said, “I don’t really like to talk about bad luck.”

He continued: “When you are good, you don’t hit the post; you score. I tried to help the best I could. When I say we needed to be more clinical, I am the one who has to be scoring. But this is life, we need to pick ourselves up.”

Dortmund advanced to the final with a 50th-minute goal from Mat Hummels.

The Bundesliga team now awaits the winner of tonight’s second semifinal match between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. The first leg between the two ended 2-2 in Munich.

The Champions League final will take place on June 1, 2024, at Wembley Stadium.
