AC Milan progressed to the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time since 2012 after a 0-0 draw with Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur to win 1-0 on aggregate.
The Rossoneri last won the Champions League on May 23, 2007, when they defeated Liverpool. Filippo Inzaghi scored a brace in that match to help them win their 7th Champions League trophy.
They will look to bounce back on the big stage 11 years later after making it to the last eight on Wednesday night.
Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte was back in charge of the Spurs after recovering from gallbladder surgery. However, the Italian was unable to elicit a response from his team.
After the game, it was Brahim Diaz’s first-leg goal that proved to be the difference as the Italian champions advanced to the last eight of the Champions League.
Conte fears the sack
Meanwhile, Conte has apologized to the fans and remains hopeful that they will be able to win the trophy soon.
“I’m really sorry for the fans but we cannot invent the win,’ he said. ‘It’s important to know this and not hope for a miracle that one day a trophy comes to us. We have to build and have patience,” he said.
After being eliminated from the champions league, Conte is afraid that he may be sacked before the end of the season.
“My contract expires in June; we will see if they sack me even before the end of the season. Who knows, maybe they are disappointed,” he told Journalists on Wednesday night.

Conte has only reached the last eight in the Champions League once as a coach with Juventus 10 years ago.
On Saturday, Spurs will host Nottingham Forest in the Premier League to seek redemption.
They are winless in their last three matches across all competitions and will hope to get back to their winning ways.
