Getting these top players firing in goals in front of the goal at the business end of the season has been very crucial as their teams push for silverware and higher league-table finishes.
Here is the list of five players who have bulged the net more times than any others since the end of the World Cup in Qatar.
5. ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE
Alexandre Lacazette has just been as impressive as Arsenal since both parties split ways in June 2022. The target man has scored nine times in 11 games since the end of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
His record of 14 goals in the French league has only been beaten by Kylian Mbappe, Jonathan David, and former Arsenal teammate Folarin Balogun.
With the League title out of touching distance, Olympique Lyon will have their sights set on the Coupe de France quarterfinals, void of Paris Saint-Germain.
4. WISSAM BEN YEDDER
No player from the French top flight has scored more goals than Wissam Ben Yedder since the FIFA World Cup.
His return of nine goals in his last nine appearances has not even been matched by any member of the deadly trio of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar Jr., and Lionel Messi.
Yedder was even on hand to grab a brace as AS Monaco defeated league leaders PSG 3-1 earlier this month.
3. VICTOR OSIMHEN
With multiple clubs in Europe chasing after his signature, Nigerian center-forward Victor Osimhen has continued to set the Italian top flight on fire this season.
Post-World Cup, the industrious forward has scored nine goals for Napoli in nine appearances. His tally of 18 league goals this season is only bettered by Erling Haaland in Europe’s top five leagues.
The Super Eagles star has been very instrumental in Napoli creating a 15-point lead in the Serie A title race. Napoli has not won a league title since the days of the great Diego Maradona.
2. KARIM BENZEMA
Karim Benzema, who played no part in the just-concluded FIFA World Cup, has been out to show the world why he is the current Ballon d’Or holder.
The Frenchman has been in explosive form, scoring 10 times in 11 outings since the showpiece in Qatar. One of his recent goals came in the FIFA Club World Cup final triumph against Al Hilal.
The Los Blancos bank on him again as they take on Liverpool FC in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 tomorrow and look to narrow the 8-point gap with which FC Barcelona leads the La Liga title race.
1. MARCUS RASHFORD
Leading the list of top scorers is Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford. He has netted an impressive 16 goals in 17 appearances for the Red Devils since the FIFA World Cup.

It is difficult to argue against the Englishman being the most in-form player in the world right now. His pace, dribbling skills, and finishing ability have been brought to great use.
