Could this be the end of Paul Pogba ‘s football career?

Pogba could face a two- to four-year ban after being provisionally suspended from playing following a drug test that found elevated levels of testosterone in his system.

Paul Pogba rejoined Juventus on a four-year deal after his Manchester United contract expired in 2022.

The 30-year-old French midfielder won Serie A four times with the Italian giants before a then-world-record £89m transfer to United in 2016.

Since his return to Juventus, he has only played seven games, making only one start. In the current season, he has played a combined total of 51 minutes as a substitute against Bologna and Empoli.

On Monday, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner was provisionally suspended from playing after a drug test found elevated levels of testosterone in his system. Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal (Nado) confirmed the development.

The test was conducted after Juventus’ 3-0 win at Udinese on August 20, 2023.

If found guilty of doping, he could face a ban of between two and four years. However, Pogba has three days to produce a counter-analysis of the result to Nado.

Juventus yesterday also confirmed in a statement that “Pogba received a precautionary suspension order from the National Anti-Doping Tribunal following the results of tests carried out on August 20, 2023. The club reserves the right to consider the next procedural steps.”
