The football association of Zambia(FAZ) on Tuesday announced the immediate termination of Eden University’s sponsorship deal for the National division one league for reasons that have not been made available to the media.

The sponsorship deal which saw the learning institution take over the naming rights of the league was first signed in November 2018 and was worth K1.1 million .

In 2020 , the university increased its sponsorship to K1,840,000 for the 2020/21 National division one season.

However, Eden university chief executive officer(CEO), Kelvin Kaunda has told the Zambia Daily Mail that the institution is taking a break from football to focus on other areas and said , the termination of the deal was a mutual agreement between FAZ and the Learning Institution.

Kaunda also believes that his institution has left the league in a better position than they found it in 2018.

We agreed with FAZ to terminate the sponsorship deal mutually. I think we have left the National Division one league in a much better position than we found it. It is much more competitive.

Kaunda was quoted by the Zambia Daily Mail

Meanwhile the football association of Zambia have said it has reached an advanced stage to secure a new sponsor for the national division on e league and an announcement will be made in due course.
