Two more spots are still up for grabs in the race for Super League promotion. Mutondo Stars, Mufulira Wanderers, and City of Lusaka still stand a chance of qualifying for the Super League, and here is the permutation for the tightly contested race.

Mutondo Stars versus Young Buffaloes

Mutondo Stars in third position with 55 points, will close their campaign with a home fixture at the School of Excellence in Baluba in a must-win match against Young Green Buffaloes.

The Evergreen coached by Zeddy Saileti missed an early opportunity to gain promotion following a 1-nil defeat to City of Lusaka in Week 33. The team now needs to avoid defeat against the Army-sponsored outfit.

An outright win will confirm Mutondo’s status in the Super League while a draw and defeat or draw for City of Lusaka will also be enough for Mutondo to gain promotion.

Mufulira Wanderers versus Konkola Blades

This is one of the toughest fixtures in the race to the Super League, with Wanderers declaring free entry at Shinde stadium. Abena Milambo are in 4th position with 54 points and are facing a team that has already gained promotion to the Super League.

The legendary side suffered a surprising 4-2 defeat at the hands of Atletico Lusaka and blew up a chance to confirm Super League status in Week 33. The race is now wide open and any lapse on Sunday might be disastrous for the green and white side needing an outright win.

A draw would be enough if City of Lusaka loses or draws due to a superior goal difference. A defeat for Mutondo Stars coupled with a draw at Shinde Stadium will also be enough for ‘Maite’ to leapfrog the Evergreen side.

Kafue Celtic versus City of Lusaka

Nothing less than a win will see City of Lusaka qualify. ‘Yobeba’ are away to already relegated Kafue Celtic at the Independence Stadium in Lusaka.

Sitting in 5th position with 53 points, one point outside the top four, a win and a defeat for either Mufulira Wanderers or Mutondo Stars will confirm promotion to the Super League.

However, a draw for Mutondo Stars and a 2-nil win for the Woodlands Stadium domiciled side would see them leapfrog on goal difference.
