Chirundu United Football Club head coach Mannaseh Chilekwa has revealed that the team has shifted its base from Chirundu to Lusaka.

The Border Boys earned promotion to the National Division One League during the playoffs held in Lusaka.

Chirundu United dominated the Lusaka Provincial Division One League to emerge champions, as they consequently qualified for the playoffs.

Chilekwa’s charges will begin their campaign in the second tier of Zambian football with a match against River Plate this weekend.

However, after winning promotion, Chirundu United will have been forced to shift base to the capital city due to the non-availability of a playing field that meets the requirements and specifications to host a national division one league match in Chirundu.

The development has seen the club settle for Edwin Imboela Stadium as their home stadium for the 2024–25 season.

To this effect, Chilekwa said the team is adapting to Lusaka as they have relocated in readiness for the season.

He adds that the target of the squad will be to stabilise and settle in in the early stages of the new season.

“The team has relocated to Lusaka; that’s where its base is, so I’m sure by now everyone has adapted,” he said.

“Playing our home games at Edwin Imboela Stadium will be a new experience, but our target is to settle in the national division.”

While he did not reveal the club’s signings, the coach has confirmed that reinforcements have been made, which will soon be made public.

“Yes, we have some enforcement in some departments,” he revealed.
