Francisco Mwepu has stated that he is ready to pursue new opportunities once his loan spell at Atlético Sanluqueño runs out at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old Zambian striker, who is currently on loan from La Liga’s Càdiz CF to the Spanish Division 3 side, expressed his desire to advance in his career.
“I am a Cadiz player, but if there is any club that will approach me, I am willing to make a move as long as Cadiz does not want to keep me after my loan here,” he said in an exclusive interview.
Mwepu has a running contract with Cadiz until 2026. He debuted for the Cadiz first team in La Liga last season before being sent on loan.
Since his move to Sanluqueño, he has scored seven goals in 15 games, becoming the club’s player with the most goals in Primera Federación.
Mwepu does not regret his decision to join the third-tier club, stating that they play in a competitive league and that he needed game time.
“I think it was a good decision for me because I needed game time and this was a good chance for me to play. I am happy,” he said.
“The third tier here is very competitive too.”
He added, “The more I play and score here, the more other teams will watch and see what I can do.”
Mwepu is eager to return to top-flight football after his loan spell at Sanluqueño and will be open to accepting offers from other clubs if Cadiz won’t recall him.
