In an effort to increase their chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo says his team will do everything in their power to defeat Mali on Monday evening.
The Black Stars currently top Group I with 16 points, just one ahead of Comoros, while Madagascar sits on 13 points and Mali trails closely with 12. Central African Republic (5) and Chad (1) complete the standings.
Speaking ahead of the crucial tie, Addo brushed aside statistics, insisting the focus must remain on the task at hand.
“So, these statistics are of no use, especially when there are friendly games in between where we use all kinds of players to test. I’m not afraid of anything, just God. I’m very sure we’ll show a different face, and we’ll win,” he said.
After a draw against Chad, Addo noted that the team needs to improve..
“The whole team, everybody, was very disappointed after the draw in Chad. The expectation was high for us to win, and we were disappointed. We analyzed the game very well and hope that we learned from this. I expect a different face of the players,” he explained.
On Mali, Addo acknowledged the challenge but stressed Ghana still controls its own destiny.
“It will be very, very difficult against Mali, and they’re in good shape. But the positive thing is we still have it in our own hands. We will put everything in this game tomorrow to win,” he added.
