Paris Saint-Germain and Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi gifted a 10-year-old Zambian fan, Luis Musonda, a jersey, boots, and a pair of sneakers after his side Morocco defeated Zambia 2-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Monday.

The young Zambian boy of Twapya township managed to sneak past security personnel after the match and made his way to the Moroccan star, who chose to walk with him to the dressing room. This was despite attempts by security to turn him away, as he cried out for the PSG star’s attention.

The PSG right-back and nominee for the 2025 Ballon d’Or was an unused substitute in Monday’s match, but still drew the attention of many Zambian fans who were eager to catch a glimpse of him.

Speaking to Bolanews, Musonda said he was thrilled to receive gifts from the PSG player.

“It’s a dream come true to meet Hakimi,” he said. “I will start playing professional football starting today so that one day I can become like him,” he emotionally said.

Musonda currently plays only street football but hopes to join an academy to follow in his idol’s footsteps.

“This is when I want to start playing football at an academy. I am really happy and excited because I just see him when he is playing for PSG. He told me me get this jersey and told me to follow him at the dressing room, where he gave me the boots,” Musonda said.

Hakimi and Morocco were the first African team to qualify for next year’s World Cup. They will look to build on their 2022 campaign which saw them reach the semifinals for the first time in their history.
