A Gonzalo Garcia 54th-minute headed goal inside the box from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross was all that Real Madrid C.F. needed to knock out Italian giants Juventus and advance to the quarterfinals of the revamped 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
The Liga giants dominated most of the game, and only a series of superb saves from Juventus keeper Michele Di Gregorio prevented a bigger winning margin.
In the other game, Dortmund struck twice in the 14th and 24th minutes, both goals by Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy and assisted by Kerim Adeyemi on both occasions, to secure the victory for the German Bundesliga side.
Monterrey got their consolation goal through German Berterame in the 48th minute, but it was not enough as Dortmund held on to their lead until the final whistle.
Dortmund will face Real Madrid in the quarterfinal, but midfielder Jobe Bellingham received two yellow cards and will miss the clash.
The match was highly anticipated as Jobe was supposed to face off against his elder brother Jude Bellingham for the first time since his move to Dortmund.
