Chelsea football club manager Mauricio Pochettino has praised his players for defeating a “tough” Wimbledon club in the Carabao Cup.

In order to survive a scare against a strong team, the Blues had to come from behind. Substitute Enzo Fernandez scored the game-winning goal, which was also his first ever in the blue jersey.

Prior to Noni Madueke scoring the equalizer for Chelsea shortly before halftime, James Tilley of Wimbledon’s penalty kick in the 19th minute gave the visitors the lead.

Pochettino believes the game was competitive although his players responded very well to pressure.

“It was tough, but we really enjoyed it. I am happy with the team’s performance overall. We were competitive and deserve to be in the next,” he said, via Chelsea Football Club.

“We decided to give new players the chance who were making their debut here at Stamford Bridge. There are so many positives to take from,” he added.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side survive scare to edge past League Two outfit as Noni Madueke and Enzo Fernandez goals ensure they come from behind to win.

Chelsea will now play Brighton and Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup’s next round, with the ultimate reward in mind.

“Now it’s about thinking about Saturday’s game. But when we arrive to Brighton, we will talk about that, but if you want to win the competition you need to beat all the teams,” he said.
