Crystal Palace have sacked Patrick Vieira after 18 months in charge following a slew of poor results.
The Arsenal legend leaves the Eagles in 12th place in the Premier League, just three points above the drop zone.
Palace has not yet announced who will replace Vieira or take charge of their Premier League match this Sunday.
Steve Parish, the club’s chairman stated that Vieira’s sacking was necessary due to the current state of affairs.
“Results in recent months have placed us in a precarious league position. And we felt a change is necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status. That said, Patrick’s impact since joining us in the summer of 2021 has been significant, and he is held in the highest regard by myself, and all of his colleagues,” he said in a statement.
Palace appointed Vieira in July 2021 to succeed former England manager Roy Hodgson.
His first season at Selhurst Park was a success, as he led the Eagles to a Premier League 12th-place finish and an FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea.
