Malawi Women’s National Football Team head coach Lovemore Fazili says his team is in Morocco not to win, but to continue developing ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.

The Malawi Scorchers are scheduled to face their North African hosts this evening in an international friendly at Kenitra Stadium in Casablanca.

“We are set to take on Morocco; it is a strong team just like Zambia and South Africa. We are not here to beat Morocco but to develop our team as we prepare for the Angola game in October,” Fazili said.

“Winning will be just a bonus, but we just want to motivate players and give them experience as they face big teams.

“Morocco knows much about us based on the teams we have played against. We are strong just that we haven’t played in AFCON before, but they know that we are a good side.

“You can’t differentiate Morocco from Zambia; both play good football and have some individual brilliance; we will match them to any style of their play,” said Fazili.

This will be the Scorchers’ fifth international friendly of the year, having played two matches against Zambia in February and another two against South Africa in April.

The team is using these matches as preparation for their crucial 2026 WAFCON final qualifying fixture against Angola in October.
