The club’s manager, Jurgen Klopp admits that his team’s 3-0 thrashing by Brighton was the worst game of his tenure.
Danny Welbeck’s late goal and Solly March’s two goals helped the Seagulls defeat the Reds at the Amex, giving them three points to climb to 30 points and take over seventh place in the league standings.
Klopp described the game as the worst of his tenure at Anfield.
“This is bad, really bad; I can’t remember a worse game.” It’s not difficult, maybe. Brighton was the better team; it was well deserved. They played really well. It was a very organized team against a not-very-organized team. We gave the ball away; the spaces were too big, and we couldn’t push up,” he said.
“That is obviously not good, especially against a super well-drilled side like Brighton.” Klopp was quoted BBC’s match of the day.
The Liverpool manager also admitted that he was not happy with his team’s performance and that he was concerned.
“Yeah, how can you not be after a game like this?” I cannot stand here and say it didn’t happen. Of course, we have to be very concerned about it.”
Liverpool has had a difficult season, winning just eight of their 18 Premier League games. They are currently in fourth place, seven points behind Newcastle, and face a real chance of missing out on playing in the Champions League the following year.
