Erling Haaland was seen leaving Manchester City’s FA Cup quarterfinal victory over Bournemouth on crutches after an ankle injury forced him off midway through the match.

After scoring City’s opening goal in their 2-1 win, Haaland appeared to get his ankle caught under Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook during a challenge that sent him crashing into the advertising boards.

The Norwegian striker showed clear signs of discomfort and was eventually substituted, with Omar Marmoush coming on to replace him. Marmoush made an immediate impact, scoring the winning goal just two minutes later to secure a semi-final clash against Nottingham Forest.

Following the match, 90 min reported that fans outside the stadium saw Haaland with his ankle in a protective boot as he left on crutches, raising concerns that the 24-year-old may have suffered a serious injury.

Providing an update on his condition, City released a statement: “Erling underwent initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now seek specialist consultation to confirm the full extent of the injury.

“Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain a full prognosis. The expectation is that Erling will be fit in time to play a further part in the remainder of this season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

“Everyone at the Club wishes Erling a speedy recovery and mancity.com will bring you regular updates regarding his rehabilitation.”

Haaland may miss the rest of the remaining season

Haaland has undergone initial tests and is now expected to miss “most of the final part of the season,” according to multiple reports.

The striker will consult a specialist in hopes of making a return before the season concludes.

City could still have an FA Cup final to contest if they overcome Nottingham Forest in the semi-finals, and they are also set to compete in the Club World Cup this summer.

Man City’s next match is against Leicester on Wednesday, but Haaland will most likely be unavailable.

Pep Guardiola’s squad will take on Forest in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday, April 26, with the final scheduled for May 17.

In the Premier League, City currently sit fifth with 48 points, just outside the Champions League qualification spots.
