With three goal-contributions in his last three finals for Club and Country, Manchester City’s new ‘Riyad Mahrez’ Cole Palmer has continued to impress. But with the Club agreeing to personal terms for West Ham and Brazil’s Lucas Paquetta, uncertainty surrounds the young star’s future.
Palmer, 21 has scored and assisted in three finals he has so far played in, making him the latest rising star off Manchester City’s production line and admired by many Clubs.
Most recently, the young talented Attacking Winger pulled off another master class performance, scoring a header as his side came from a goal down to win 5-4 on penalties in the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla.
The Super Cup performance earned him the Man-of-the-Match award and a tweeted applause from Riyard Mahrez who recently signed for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Arabia Professional League.
But the future of the young star still remains in limbo as the Club continues to hunt for the signature of Brazilian Winger, Lucas Paquetta who is currently on the books of West Ham as Mahrez’s direct replacement. His Manager Josep Pep Guardiola has however, hinted on Cole’s future.
“The opinion I had when he arrived is (that) he wanted to leave, but now I don’t what’s going happen. I don’t think a loan is going to happen. He is going to stay going to (on) sell, but I think a loan is not going to happen,” He said, via Daily Mall (UK).
Despite his struggle for game time, Cole has made 23 appearances for the Citizens and has scored just 4 times since making his debut for the senior team in 2020.
“If he wants to stay, he will stay,”-Guardiola.
In the latest interview with Sky Sports News, Palmer believes anything can happen in the coming days. And with Kevin De Bruyne sidelines due to injury, the player may just get the chance he has been longing for the time being.
“We have a lot of confidence in Cole (Palmer). I know he wanted to play last season and didn’t much. If he wants to stay, he will stay; we are more pleased. If he wants to leave, we (will) find a solution because he is a top player,” he said, via talkSPORT.
