Manchester United striker trainer Benni McCarthy is facing an uncertain future at the club.
The former South African international arrived at Old Trafford as part of Erik ten Hag’s technical staff in July 2022.
However, the 46-year-old former AmaZulu coach’s contract is set to expire in the summer.
McCarthy has mainly been working with the club’s forwards on patterns of play and basic attacking skills.
He has not been offered a new contract by the club and could be on his way out at the end of the season, according to an ESPN report.
The club has not responded to the situation, which is fueling speculation about Ten Hag’s long-term prospects at Old Trafford.
The former FC Porto and Blackburn striker has previously managed Cape Town City and AmaZulu in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL).
McCarthy, a key member of the Dutchman’s staff, along with assistants Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren, is expected to return to managerial duties if his tenure at Old Trafford ends.
