Sunday’s Premier League results highlighted the league’s volatile nature. Arsenal’s winning streak continued as City fell short against Villa, while newly promoted sides reveled in their success and Wolves’ difficulties persisted. Here’s a summary of the outcomes.
Bournemouth 2–0 Nottingham Forest
Sean Dyche lost his first game in charge of Nottingham Forest. Marcus Tavernier scored directly from a corner kick to put the home side in the lead after 25 minutes. 15 minutes later Bournemouth doubled their lead through Eli Junior Kroupi to seal all three points.
Arsenal 1–0 Crystal Palace
Eberechi Eze helped Arsenal extend their lead to four points at the summit with a goal against his former employers, Palace, in the 39th minute. Prior to the goal, Palace showed flashes of brilliance but lacked the quality needed to break the home side’s resilient defence.
Speaking after the game, Arteta stressed the importance of the win, stating that “I just told the boys that I probably value this victory more than any other victory this season, because we knew the difficulty of it after playing every three days.
He further added, “We had a big opportunity as well with the things that happened during this weekend, and I knew we played against a team that, in my opinion, has been one of the best recently in terms of organization, how difficult they make it, how frustrated they can make you, and the moment that you lose that concentration, they will punish you.”
“We have managed to be very stable, playing the game that we have to play.”
Despite been stuck in the first half, Arteta credited his troops for scoring a goal and attacking in the second half. “But with 1-0, we knew that we had to suffer because a team has to score goals to beat any other opponent this season, so to keep the clean sheet is very important.”
Aston Villa 1–0 Manchester City
Erling Haaland goes missing as Villa maximizes home advantage to deny City a chance to close the gap on Arsenal. It may have looked like an easy game on paper for the visitors, but Matty Cash’s first-half finish was the difference at the end.

Wolves 2–3 Burnley
It was goals galore in this fixture that ended in delight for newly promoted side Burnley. Zian Flemmingi opened the scoring in the 14th minute, then scored his second to double Burnley’s lead in the 30th minute.
Joergen Larsen reduced their deficit to one goal soon after, and Marshall Munetsi leveled matters shortly before halftime. The game looked destined for a draw, but Lyle Foster scored the winner in the dying moments of the game to secure 3 points for the away side, as Wolves’ winless streak continues.
Everton 0-3 Tottenham
Micky Van De Ven and Pape Sarr score as Spurs move to third. It was a good day at the office for Thomas Frank’s men following a sensational display away from home. Micky Van De Ven scored a brace in the first half to give Tottenham a 2-goal lead before halftime. The second half continued with more intensity from both sides but it was Tottenham that added to their tally through Sarr in the 89-minute to add more icing on the cake.

The table may look unusual with likes of Bournemouth and Sunderland in the top four brackets, but credit to them for a sensational start to the season.
Manchester United are slowly getting into their groove and are currently 6th on the log. Liverpool’s dreadful start to their defense finds them 7 points behind Arsenal, while City’s reliance on Haaland proves critical as the Norwegian draws a blank against Villa; there’s plenty to play for next weekend. While this is Arsenal’s season, is it too early to say?
