Liverpool opened their Premier League title defense in style, beating Bournemouth 4-2 in a Friday night thriller at Anfield.

New signing Hugo Ekitike marked his debut with a 37th-minute strike, before Cody Gakpo doubled the lead early in the second half.

Bournemouth hit back through Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo, who scored twice in 12 minutes to level the match at 2-2.

Federico Chiesa restored Liverpool’s lead in the 88th minute shortly after coming on as a substitute.

Mohamed Salah sealed the win in stoppage time to became the first player to score in ten consecutive Premier League openers and equaled Andrew Cole’s 187 league goals, moving joint fourth on the league’s all-time scorers list.
