Football House expects a better showing at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) despite the poor performance at the on-going COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup in South Africa.
Zambia eliminated from the tournament following a 1 – 0 loss suffered to Comoros. As a result, many fans raised fears over what awaits at the CHAN, this coming August.
Zambia was using the COSAFA as part of the preparations for the CHAN and the 2026 World Cup qualifier matches against Morocco and Tanzania.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) executive committee member Chisenga Pule has said the expectation at CHAN remains high despite the early elimination from COSAFA.
“Part of the team that are in the CHAN team are on the other side, so the few that are here gives an opportunity to choose those that they can the combine with those who are back home.
“It is good experience for the new players and it also gives them a platform to know what happens at an international level so it will not be a cultural shock when they go for CHAN so we might have a good outing for CHAN,” Pule said.
Zambia is in Group A of the CHAN alongside co-hosts Kenya, Morocco, Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
